Snow on the way home from Whiteface

Howard and I went up to Lake Placid at the end of October (see blog posting on October 28th).

When we left Lake Placid, there was no snow at all, and when we got home there was no snow, but all the way in between there was a foot of snow.

There were fir trees coming down on all sides of the road, so we had to keep swerving to avoid trees.

At every part of the road, all over the place, on power lines, lying across the road, there were fir trees.

Crews were busy cutting them away, so we had to keep stopping and waiting and hoping a tree didn't fall on us.

It had rained the day before and then snowed a heavy snow, and only the fir trees were toppling.

It was a scary drive--we were very thankful that the Lord brought us home safely to our children.

Caves and Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!! We've really enjoyed being with our family in Tennessee.
Yesterday we went to Lost Sea-- a hidden underground lake in a cave. Everyone especially liked the part where they turn all the lights out.
We got our own private boat for touring the lake because there were so many of us.
Here is Elizabeth at one of the formations in the cave.

While waiting for the Thanksgiving feast today, the Dad and the kids watched the movie: "Polar Express."

Some people were just so thankful for siblings!

Then the food was ready and the adults got a special table all to themselves. I'm sure they enjoyed it. ;)

Meanwhile, this was what was going on at the kids' tables.

Alexander, Nathanael and Caroline went to get their energy out on the zip line at the neighbor's house.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We love you.

Traveling

Finally we are out of the car!! We have been driving more than 4 hours everyday this week since the 18th so far. Now we are at our final destination in Tennessee. Here are some pics of the adventures we've been having so far.

Walking the grounds of Princeton with our dear friend Matt Bennett.

After Princeton we drove down to Waynesborough, VA to see Liz's sister Joanna and her husband John and kids.
This is Susannah with our cousin Helene in the barn.

Nathanael with the cat (not too friendly) named Elizabeth.

The boys loved the old tractor.

Alexander took on the job of feeding the sheep.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Garbage Man stands up for traditional marriage!

Yesterday we put our old marriage amendment rally posters outside with the rest of the trash because they were getting a little ratty, and we also threw away some old toys, including a plastic alligator. Then this afternoon Mom came home from piano lessons and laughed out loud at the sight she saw at the end of the driveway. The garbage man had set up the alligator at the foot of a tree and put one of the rally signs in the the alligator's mouth facing the road. As you can see in the photo, the sign said "In the beginning, God made marriage. Don't mess with it!"
