Before and After Christmas Activities

Merry Christmas!!! We enjoyed our Christmas day very much. Liz's parents are here and the everyone is having fun with Pop and Nana.
Before Christmas, there was a gift crisis among the puppies, and none of them had any presents to give. So they spent a whole afternoon making crafts to give to family on Christmas.

After Christmas- well today actually- Caroline painted all the younger kids faces.
Benjamin: tiger

Daniel: cheetah

Susannah: Indian
Emily: Ladybug

Nathanael: Batman

Alexander: pirate

Timothy: Flash

Emily: very cute

Choir Concert

8 of the kids are in the homeschool choir this year, and they just had their concert on the 12th. Dad says: What a beautiful performance!!! His favorite was Gloria Canon by Franz Joseph Haydn. There are actually two choirs; the senior choir, which Sarah, Caroline, Hannah and Elizabeth are in, and Alexander, Abel, Timothy and Susannah are in the training chorus.

The Senior Choir

Caroline and Elizabeth had a duet at the beginning of "White Christmas." Some of the songs that the choir sang were: Good Christian Men Rejoice, Angels from the Realms of Glory, Il est Ne, While Shepherds Watched their Flocks by Night, Gloria Canon....
The girls really enjoy the choir and are looking forward to it starting up again in January.

The Training Chorus

I think the training chorus got the loudest applause- they did such a good job. It was well coordinated, they sang beautifully, and they were so cute (except Alexander who refuses to be called cute). They did 4 songs alone and sang one with the Senior Choir: Sing We all Noel, The Little Drummer Boy, Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, and O Christmas Tree.
The Little Drummer Boy was accompanied by handmade drums, and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers was done with hand motions and movements.

Both choirs are led by Juliana LaSala, and everyone loves her. She babysat for the Green kids so they got to know her well and have a special affection for her.

Before the concert....

After the concert (with friends Madison, Quinn and Jenny)....

Wonderful job Sarah, Caroline, Hannah, Elizabeth, Alexander, Abel, Timothy and Susannah!!!

Snow on the way home from Whiteface

Howard and I went up to Lake Placid at the end of October (see blog posting on October 28th).

When we left Lake Placid, there was no snow at all, and when we got home there was no snow, but all the way in between there was a foot of snow.

There were fir trees coming down on all sides of the road, so we had to keep swerving to avoid trees.

At every part of the road, all over the place, on power lines, lying across the road, there were fir trees.

Crews were busy cutting them away, so we had to keep stopping and waiting and hoping a tree didn't fall on us.

It had rained the day before and then snowed a heavy snow, and only the fir trees were toppling.

It was a scary drive--we were very thankful that the Lord brought us home safely to our children.

Caves and Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!! We've really enjoyed being with our family in Tennessee.
Yesterday we went to Lost Sea-- a hidden underground lake in a cave. Everyone especially liked the part where they turn all the lights out.
We got our own private boat for touring the lake because there were so many of us.
Here is Elizabeth at one of the formations in the cave.

While waiting for the Thanksgiving feast today, the Dad and the kids watched the movie: "Polar Express."

Some people were just so thankful for siblings!

Then the food was ready and the adults got a special table all to themselves. I'm sure they enjoyed it. ;)

Meanwhile, this was what was going on at the kids' tables.

Alexander, Nathanael and Caroline went to get their energy out on the zip line at the neighbor's house.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We love you.

Traveling

Finally we are out of the car!! We have been driving more than 4 hours everyday this week since the 18th so far. Now we are at our final destination in Tennessee. Here are some pics of the adventures we've been having so far.

Walking the grounds of Princeton with our dear friend Matt Bennett.

After Princeton we drove down to Waynesborough, VA to see Liz's sister Joanna and her husband John and kids.
This is Susannah with our cousin Helene in the barn.

Nathanael with the cat (not too friendly) named Elizabeth.

The boys loved the old tractor.

Alexander took on the job of feeding the sheep.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Garbage Man stands up for traditional marriage!

Yesterday we put our old marriage amendment rally posters outside with the rest of the trash because they were getting a little ratty, and we also threw away some old toys, including a plastic alligator. Then this afternoon Mom came home from piano lessons and laughed out loud at the sight she saw at the end of the driveway. The garbage man had set up the alligator at the foot of a tree and put one of the rally signs in the the alligator's mouth facing the road. As you can see in the photo, the sign said "In the beginning, God made marriage. Don't mess with it!"

Nathanael and Daniel Green are US citizens!

Nathanael and Daniel Green became US citizens yesterday, October the 23, 2006. At the court house, they recieved presents from Judge Walsh along with their citizenship. She also let all the kids bang the gavel. ;)

2 more birthdays--Mom and Daniel!

The leaves have all fallen here and it has snowed lightly a couple of times. The kids raked up a huge leaf pile and all the kids and even Dad and Mom played in it.

And fall wouldn't be complete without our pumkins.

Fall

Fall is here!! We are enjoying it. Here are some of the events happening at the Green house this fall.

Happy Birthday Hannah and Elizabeth!!! They both turned 12. Hannah didn't want her picture on the blog.

We have been playing outside a lot now that it isn't so hot. Basketball is popular. Sarah's the one featured in this picture.

We got a leash and collar from our friend, and Susannah loves to take the bunny out and play with him.

The leaves....

Make sure to come back soon for our winter posting. Winter lasts 5 months out of the year here!

The blessing over the pancakes...
